UCF Mechanical Engineering Student Receives FEWC’s Inaugural Scholarship

The Florida Energy Workforce Consortium launched a new scholarship this year promoting careers in energy. Timothy Gallagher, a mechanical engineering student at the University of Central Florida, is one of two recipients of this inaugural award. Each recipient received a check for $2000 to further their goal of working in the energy industry.

Florida Energy Workforce Consortium is a state-wide organization that raises the awareness, creates the environment for the cooperation between industry and education institutions, and promotes the development of energy workforce in the State of Florida. In addition to scholarships, FEWC offers mentoring, information, and connections to the industry to foster and growth the future energy career professionals.
 
Tim is currently working part-time at the Florida Solar Energy Center® (FSEC®) in Cocoa, a research institute at the University of Central Florida, and attending classes at UCF’s Orlando campus.
 
“I come from a family of mechanical engineers, so engineering is in my blood,” said Tim Gallagher. “Working at FSEC has given me an opportunity to see first-hand the variety of jobs in the energy sector, and I’m excited about my future in this industry.”
